Get SQL Express

Why would I get Microsoft SQL Server Express Edition?

Contract Eagle requires a SQL Server database. The Express edition is completely free and excellent quality.  If you do not already own a commercial edition of Microsoft SQL Server then the express edition may be the most appropriate choice for you.

Do I have to use Microsoft SQL Server Express?

No. You can use any other edition of Microsoft SQL Server, as long as it is a 2005 or 2008 release.

If you are not comfortable with installing Microsoft SQL Server in any shape or form then the Contract Eagle Setup Assistant will install a Microsoft Access database for you instead, however we encourage you to use SQL Server as the most robust option.

Can I Install It Myself?

Yes, although the installation process for Microsoft SQL Server does require at least some technical savvy. If in any doubt you should contact your IT support person or make use of the Contract Eagle support forum.
